Northern Utah is both incubator and workshop for Colt 46. It is where we raise our families, assimilate our many influences and practice our musical craft. All 4 members have lived here a majority of our lives but have spent significant time exploring, both physically and artistically, other musical landscapes. From Brigham City to Layton, Eden to North Ogden, lead guitarist John Pettley jr., lead vocalist Dale Condie, Bass player Wes Becker, and Drummer Dan Robbins have been forming their creative vision for some years now. This process has involved many other local musicians throughout the intervening years, culminating in our present lineup, and the birth of COLT.46, by the summer of 2014.
We all have a foundational respect and love for the classic greats in country music and an enthusiasm for alternative folk, country, americana and rock. Along with each member's personal stylistic choices, these elements form the palette for what we have to say. At first we only sang the songs of our role models. Now we have something to say for ourselves. Led by the inspirations of Dale and Dan, formed and polished by all, Colt 46 offers music that we hope sounds a little different yet familiar at some level. Perhaps you will find it a refreshing diversion from the sameness of syndicated radio.
